- Central Heating Repair Installation
Imagine hopping into a nice and relaxing shower on a Sunday morning and realising that your hot water heater is faulty. The water is extremely cold, and not ideal for a relaxing bath. So, it needs emergency repairs not to cause you further discomfort. We are here to help you with solutions to some of the main multipoint water heater problems.
In this guide, we will discuss five ways of fixing the main water heater problems.
Table of Contents
1.Incorrect Temperature of Water:
This is one of the most common main water heater issues. Either the water turns out to be too hot or does not heat up at all. In the majority of cases, adjusting the thermostat on the tank fixes up the problems.
However, if adjusting the thermostat does not fix the issue, then are two possible reasons why this issue occurred. These are:
- Faulty thermostat
- Incorrect gas rate
The faulty thermostat can be solved by replacing the thermostat. Check the gas supply, burner pressure, and inlet pressure to make sure whether the gas rate is correct or not. If you need more guidance on Gas Rate, you can read our recent blog on “How to Gas Rate an Appliance”
2.Incorrect Rate of Water Flow:
Sometimes, the rate at which the water flows out of the gas water heater turns out to be incorrect. The primary causes behind this issue are:
- Low pressure of water
- Closed gas isolation valve
- The sticky or faulty water section
Open the gas isolation valve to fix the gas isolation problem. If the water section is sticky or faulty, then clean or replace the section. Check the main water heater to ensure that the water pressure bar is above 0.2.
3.Noise:
A rumbling noise from the hot water heater is not a good sign at all. This noise can be caused by:
- Scale in the heat exchanger
- High rate of gas
- A low flow rate of water
Descale and get the heat exchanger serviced if there is scale in the heat exchanger. Check the burner pressure to make sure that the rate of gas is correct.
Check the flow rate of water in the heater to ensure that there is no problem. You can also get a professional Gas Safety Inspection.
4.Leaking Water Heater:
Chances are there might be a leak in your hot water heater if you notice a sudden drop in the water temperature. It is necessary to determine the origin of the leak before trying to fix the leak. A leak can be easily noticed as water will pool near the units or leak from the water pipes.
Some of the causes that result in this leaking are:
- Poor maintenance
- Loose drain valve
- Corroded water tank
The drain valves can be easily tightened or replaced if they are loose. You will have to replace the water tank if it is a case of a corroded water tank. You can get expert help from professionals.
5.Discolouration of Water:
High mineral levels like iron and copper often cause the pipes to rust and discolour the water. Although this problem is not dangerous for health, it can lead to other significant plumbing problems. A common solution to this discolouration issue is to install a house water filter or a water softener.
The issues mentioned above are some of the most common main multipoint water heater problems. Fixing these issues is not a very tricky or complicated thing to do, but these repairs must not be done without an expert. Contact your local plumber to come and fix the issues for you.
